We have a massive purple bear in our living room that DH had as a child, and which DS now loves to play with. The bear is named "Crayola." I say Crayola is a girl - I mean her name ends in "la." Also, she is purple, which I'm pretty sure is a "girl color." DH says that Crayola is a boy, but he has no facts to back him up.
What do you think. And yes, this is very very important ![]()

Re: Clicky poll: Help settle an argument :) edit - now including photographic evidence!
I was going to ask the same thing!
Here you go:
Tell me that bear is not a girl!!
edit: Well just to be fair, I'll admit here now that this photo was doctored. I know it's excellent work, but yes, I did use paint to add the bow and the eyelashes
(it was a lot more obvious when the picture was bigger on my computer)
your DH knew the bear first and assigned him a gender. I am sorry to say that I think your DH gets to make the call on Crayola's sex.
ETA: well wait - is that a permanent pink bow or was it just placed there to help urge us in the "right" direction?
Are those long eyelashes? If so, I say definitely a girl!
Did you put the pink bow there to sway our opinion?
The paint program may or may not have been involved with the bow.
It is not "technically" there, in the sense of being real. But it's in her heart.
Okay DH says I have to put the real picture up, hahahahaha. Apparently I am not doing Crayola justice. So in the interest of family peace:
edit: I have been instructed to add that Crayola usually wears a purple shirt that says "Crayola" on it, in black. The shirt is in the wash, so that is not more sabotage - just the bow and the eyelashes, lol.
bahahahahaha I did this hugely attractive snickersnort when I saw the "painted" on bow and eyelashes. For about half a second, I thought you had taken some pink yarn and tied on a bow, then I realized it was "cgi-ed" (I'm using this term very loosely. . .errrrr, I mean, you should work for Pixar!!!!
).
Thank you!!! I am am totally self-taught, I know it's hard to believe
Seeing how my son's room is purple (PIP below), I say it's a neutral color. And the original owner of anything gets to determine gender, so your DH wins.
I feel tricked. I totally thought those eyelashes were real and couldn't figure out why there was even a question about Crayola's gender!
Sorry, but now my gut says boy. A big purple boy.
That bear is a hermaphrodite!
DMoney will be a kickass big sister
That is the girliest bear EVER! Tell your H, you win!
I say neither. Yeah, Crayola's purple and ands in La, but if your DH had Crayola as a kid and says Crayola is a boy, then I guess that would make Crayola a boy-since he has been for 20 years, of course DH could have gotten it wrong-Crayola does look kinda femme. I voted "neither".
Notice the lack of pronouns
