I know all babies are different, but what is typical or average? DD has been really fighting her afternoon nap lately and yesterday she skipped it altogether. She is 12 months.
Ben dropped to one nap @ 14 months and we had 2 solid months of that. Then all of a sudden at 16 months, he started alternating between one nap and two. He did that for 3-4 weeks and then went back to one nap. I'm pretty sure it's for good this time.
Colin has started fighting his afternoon nap too. But his morning nap is still only 35-45 minutes, unless I lay with him. So hopefully that nap will start to stretch out and we can drop the second one.
My little guy did it about 13 months. I started watching an 18 month old who takes 1 nap and he kinda transitioned himself. I really wasn't expecting it since we were doing good with the two naps. He still will sometimes need two naps on the weekends when he doesn't have quite as much stimulation. I have to say I am loving the one nap thing though because sometimes he will sleep as much as 2 1/2- 3 hours at a time and we were doing 45 minutes twice a day before. He averages 1 1/2 but every now and then it goes longer!
DD is in the process of it. She's 11.5 months. Some days it's 2 naps, some it's 1. I just try to follow her lead and it really depends on how long the first nap is.
