Ethan's got a bit of a cough--nothing awful, but it does sound "productive". ?We've been cooped up in the house b/c of my toe and there's not a ton in the house to eat since we just moved in, so I thought I'd take him to Starbucks for a treat (and of course, for me, too--a girl can only go for so long without).?
So we were sitting at a table and Ethan coughed once. ?I told him to cover his mouth when he coughs and for some reason, he always sees that as an invitation to fake-cough about 5 more times (while showing me that he can indeed cover his mouth while he coughs).
The woman next to me shot me such a death look. ?Seriously--he's 3.5 and he coughed. ?If I kept him inside every time he did that, we would never leave the house. ?Normally I don't let that sort of stuff bother me, but her look was so nasty and I am just feeling so off right now, that I packed us up and we came home to eat our muffin and drink our drinks. ?
Jerk. ?
Re: so am I not allowed to bring a kid with a cough out in public at all??
My DD does the same thing. She coughs for real and then follows it up with about 30 minutes of fake coughs. If Ethan was coughing in her direction, or coughing on her, then yeah, that's inappropriate... but he wasn't, so she was just being a snob. He's a kid and it amazes me that women are so mean to other women. However, there is a bit of paranoia about getting sick due to all of the H1N1 hooplah, so I think that's how a lot of people are going to be acting this flu season.
UGH I hate when it posts before I'm done!
We would be stuck inside all winter if we had to stay in for coughs. I'm also pretty sure you can tell by looking at someone (child or adult) when they are very sickly and should get back in their house.
My oldest DD has asthma where when it acts up, she coughs-- a lot. Last week I HAD to bring her to my OB appt and she coughed in the waiting area. There was an older grandma there that kept shooting me dirty looks and took out her hanky and covered her mouth/nose until I was called.
My DD always seems to fake cough when I remind her to cover her mouth, too.
That's when I would look at her and say 'Man, this swine flu... the cough just doesn't go away'.
I'm so glad to see I'm not alone in this! DS does this all.the.time!
LOL, I agree. ?Thanks for making me laugh, ladies. ?I'm having a crap week and making fun of germaphobes makes me smile. ?:-)?
