Why do I always look like crap when I take DD to the doc?

Not like that's more important than what we're at the doc for, but I swear I always look like total crap when I go. They mustn't think very highly of me...

They fit DD in today to check her out (over her not eating issue) and I have sweatpants and a tshirt on, no makeup, hair in a messy ponytail (and not in a good way). Not to mention that DD just smeared yogurt from her snack all over my pants.  I wont have time to change before we go to the doc either.

  • I do too - and then there is ALWAYS a mom in the waiting room with a LO the same age or younger than DS and she is all dressed, hair did and makeup on...making me feel that much better about looking like hell

  • I wouldn't worry too much about it!

Once DS threw up all over my shirt while at the pedi. I changed in the bathroom. By that I mean, I took off the shirt and buttoned up my winter coat over my bra....a slight improvement.

  • This is the same phenomenon that causes DS to have his worst behavior day and biggest bumps and bruises when we have to go to the doctor.
  • I look so sleep deprived when I go my pedi is always asking me if I am ok or feeling sad (like PPD) which is a good thing he asks but in my mind I am like oh gosh I must look like azz.
  • I used to work in a pedi's office.  As long as you didn't smell to high heaven of booze or BO and your child behaved I couldn't have cared less what you were wearing.  Especially if your child looked well cared for!  I hated when people would come in all dressed to the nines and then allow their children to tear around the room because they were too busy looking good to pay attention!  Wow, sorry that became a vent!

For what it is worth I'm always one of those moms that is put together at the office, but that is more because I used to work there and may some day want to go back so I want them to still think of me professionally.  I do, however, spend my time making sure DD is behaving.
