Having a bad day

Last night DS thought it would be a fabulously fun thing to dunk my cell phone into the glass of water I stupidly left on the coffee table. I took the battery out, opened up as much as I could and let it dry overnight. Wake up this morning and it's totally dead. Great. Getting a replacement phone should be lots of fun and no hassle at all! Blah.

So, I was supposed to meet a friend of mine at an indoor play are this morning at 9:30. I could only stay until 10:30 because DS has EI at 11:30. I drive 20 minutes, pull into the parking lot and discover that the place doesn't open until 10. It was open at 8 during the summer. Blah. Now I can't text my friend because my cell phone is dead, I don't have her number because it's in my dead phone (I never write anything down anymore), and her computer is dead, so I can't email her! So she drove 30 minutes to get to this place with twin 16 month olds only to discover that the place is closed and I'm nowhere to be found. I emailed her but she probably won't get the email explanation until her DH gets home from work and she can use his laptop. She'll probably spend all day being annoyed with me.

Oh, and to top it all off, DH just called (on the landline) to let me know his grandfather is being rushed into emergency open heart surgery and it's not looking good. Can I just go back to bed, wake up and have everything be okay? Please?

  • Have a Drinks .  You need it.
  • Oh, I hate those days. Hope your DH's grandfather is OK!
  • I hope your DH's grandfather is ok. And I hope you get a break either this evening or tomorrow to make up for such a crappy day.
  • I have no idea if this will work for you, but I saw it on a blog once - put the phone and battery in separate bowls with rice and let sit.  Apparently the rice will draw out the water.  The blog that I read it on (I think it was Jen Lancaster's) said it worked!

Why couldn't you wait for your friend at the place you were going to meet?  Was she really late?

  • I can definitely see how you'd want a do-over. Hope things turn out well for dh's grandfather, and that overall your day gets better.
