I wasn't supposed to see my OB yesterday (had 2 c/s' yesterday morning so all of his appts were crammed together anyway), but plans change. At my last appt 5 or so weeks ago my cervix was 4.5 (which I was very excited about). When I went yesterday it was 3.4 (which my OB and U/S tech said was still very good). Even though they were happy with my cervical length, my OB was concerned wtih the amount of contrax I was having (mostly BH's but still concerned). He had me take my first NST (THAT SUCKED, THOSE BOYS WOULDN'T SIT STILL enough to keep their HB's on the monitors). He came in when we were finishing with the first baby and commented that I wasn't having any contractions, just as he said that, they all started. I had 3 I think while we were measuring the 2nd baby, plus a lot of other dips on the contraction monitor (but not nearly as strong as the 3 main ones recorded). He decided to give me an appt, did an internal to make sure I wasn't dilated, he said I was closed, he agreed with the U/S measurement, but was softening. I'm now on a minimal dosage of Procardia (10mg every 8 hours instead of 20mg every 4 hours). He said that he wasn't putting me on formal bedrest yet, but if I don't slow down A LOT that he would have to very soon. He said that if I kept going as I have been, his guess is that our boys would be here around 31w-32w, if I slow down and do as he says, he thinks we can get to 36w. Anyway, think that's about all I have to update right now. I'm going back on Monday, I'll start going weekly, hopefully I don't start NST's weekly.
Re: F/U to U/S yesterday
It's good to know that the dr. is catching all of this early enough to hopefully let you cook till 36 weeks. Thanks for keeping us posted, I was wondering how things were going after your post yesterday!
Hope you are able to get some help so that you can super slow down as recommended. Sending you prayers and hugs that you can keep your boys in for a long time coming! That is great that you are still closed and that they were happy about the 3.4.Stay positive!!
Hang in there! And best of luck at your next appt!!
I had a ton of BH contractions starting at 30-31w. I had several brethine shots and was eventually put on procardia. That worked until they weaned me off at 34w. They put me back on it and put me on bedrest for the remainder of my pg. I made it to 38w2d without another contraction. Please listen to your docs and slow down (I know, not easy with a toddler). My boys needed every day of those 38w. Benjamin was still only 5lbs. 13oz. (a good size for a twin, but still small). I can't imagine if he had been born at 34 or 35w.
FYI-my NSTs were always a bust. The boys moved so much that they were never sure if they were seeing 2 hb's or the same one twice!
