Why do I feel the need to justify why I work second shift and what I do??

I feel like when I tell people I work second shift they looks at me like I am a factory line worker (not that there is anything wrong with that...). I feel the need to tell them what I do and the dregees I have...blahzee blahzee.

Just tell me to get over it :o)

  • get over it, love Big Smile

you do what's best for your family and are lucky to work somewhere that accomodates that!  Don't worry about what anyone else thinks!

  • Just out of curiosity, what kind of work do you do and what are your hours? FWIW, I work the 3rd shift, I have a college degree and I'm NOT a nurse, LOL (that's always everyone's first question.) I'm always interested in talking to other moms in similar situations with regard to their work and juggling family life when you have an unusual schedule.
  • People are dumb.  I'm in a predominatly male job, so guys look at me funny when I say what I do.    They should be embarrassed.

Hell, if I had a degree, I would probably hang it around my neck for all to see!  ;)

  • I work 2nd shift too and am an RN. That seems to be more acceptable to people for some stupid reason. I love it working 2nd, my husband hates it though, but it saves us so much on daycare.
