I applied for a job that entails writing and some design. Though I am a writer by trade, I am a decent "copycat" and I've had to design newsletters, brochures, technical documents, etc. And I know a bunch of desktop publishing programs like InDesign (advanced knowledge of this one), Freehand, Quark.
Anyway, as a "first interview" for this job, I have to write a sample (which is all set) and design a PowerPoint slide that includes a bunch of info that they provided. One slide only. I looked through their annual reports and business plans and other collateral posted on their site. I stole their logos and CMKY colors using Photoshop and I've tried to keep my design "true" to their style. I'm just not sure if it's interesting enough.
Keeping in mind this is a marketing/comm specialist position and not a GD position, how "fancy" do you think I need to go with this? Any ideas/tips?
Re: NTR: Graphic designers I need you!!
oooh so now you need us huh? i thought we all sucked.
?;P
kidding. let me go back and read. i had to make a smart @ss comment based on your title alone.?
LOL! Burn!
do you want to email me what you have done so far?
they probably dont want anything flashy. they just want to see if you are capable of creating something that doesnt look like a hot mess.
?
mommabrown08@gmail.com - if you want me to take a look.?
?
ETA: i had another thought. they might also be trying to weed out people that get too flashy. like, they want to weed out the creatives because its not what they want/need.?
Thanks ladies! Let me do a few more things and then I'll email it to you both. I appreciate it!!!
One question - animation - Yay or nay?
Not necessary, although it would add some "wow" to your presentation.??
