Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

please help reassure me...

DH starts working nights tomorrow.  For the next month, he works 6p-6a Sunday-Thursday.

It just occurred to me that there is a good likelyhood that I could go into labor at night while it's just me and DS at home.  My aunt lives about 15 minutes away, and has already said she will take care of DS.  DH works about 30 min away, and would most likely be able to leave for an emergency at home.

I didn't do the whole labor thing with DS.  He was breech, and I had a c/s when my water broke.  I am kind of nervous about how this could go.  Please tell me that it will be fine.

  • You're trying for a VBAC not a scheduled c-section?

My DH works 2nd shift (2:30pm-11:30pm), and I went into labor around 7pm. I timed my contractions for a good hour, and then once I knew it was the real deal, I called DH and told him it's time.?
He had a 30 minute drive, and even with that extra 30 minutes, it was no big deal. If it would have been worse, I would have asked a neighbor to take me or called the squad.?
***Just make sure your DH has an emergency # at his work you can call, or always has his cell phone on him and turned on at all times.?

yeah.  since the reason for the first section was that DS was breech, and this baby isn't, I figure that I have a pretty good chance.

I am starting to rethink the whole section thing though.  It would be nice to have my mom here and DH taking the night before off, etc.

  • You'll be fine!  I was so worried about that when I was pregnant, DH had to travel for work.  The week before my due date and he was 10 hours away for the whole week.  I had co-workers on stand-by in case I needed a labor coach :)

It worked out fine, and I'm sure it will for you too.
