the fact that my 12yr old SIL rules the freaking house. She is the rudest most ungrateful person i have ever met, and if we say ANYTHING to her that could even be considered "mean" we get ripped a new one because "she is only 12!". She is allowed to eat anything and everything in the house (including food that dh and i make/buy for us), if i want to save something i have to write chloe's name on it because that is the only thing she does get in trouble for eating.

That's awful. I hate that they're not teaching her boundaries.

And if I was paying for things out of MY OWN POCKET that she kept taking/eating/etc, I most certainly would a) have a talk with her & say that she would have to start paying it back, or b) take it up with the ILs (ie: "we can't save to get the heck outta here if she keeps making us spend more money on stuff we shouldn't have to, etc").

That's how my 13 y/o brother is.  I can't believe the way he talks to my mom. There is no way I would put up with that.
