3rd Trimester

4 cm dilated, lost mucus plug..

have any of you been in this position before? just curious to see how long it was before you went into labor.  I had an internal thursday and was 4 cm dilated and then lost my mp friday and saturday. have had some contractions but nothing consistent.  Just curious to see if any of you were like this or are like this and how long has it been? getting anxious because my dr told me to call at first sign of pain. i was only in labor for 4 hours from start to finish with my first and she expects this to be quicker! thanks

  • 4 cm and no consistent contractions? That must be nerve racking.

I was 2 cm for about a week before I went into labour. It was 5 days after my EDD.

  • I had a very similar situation. My first baby was delivered in 2.5 hours. With baby #2, I live 30 minutes from the hospital, so we were nervous, to say the least!

    Here was my timeline:

    35 weeks: 1cm dilated

    36.5 weeks: 2 cm dilated

    37.5 weeks: I was 3-4cm dilated

I delivered 2 days later. I didn't notice my MP until the day he was born. I had BH contractions for months before delivery.

My second baby was delivered in about 3.5 hours. OB broke my water (broke naturally with baby #1). Once I started feeling pressure, he was born VERY quickly (only 1 push, compared with about 40 minutes of pushing with baby #1).

    Good luck to you!

I lost my MP at 35 weeks and delivered on my EDD.

But if you're 4 cm, why aren't you in the hospital? I thought 4 cm was all you needed to be admitted?

    It's 5cm that they'll admit you now.

  • i just realized that i left out that i will only be 36 weeks pregnant this coming thursday.  the dr didnt seem concerned but when i left last thursday she told me to pack my bags and get everything in order and she would see me sooner rather than later.   just getting antsy .  it seems like a long time to be 4 cm dilated already!!
  • I thought that 4cm was enough to ne admitted. I mean 4 sure does seem like active labor to me but then again i'm not an ob either.
