Costco?

It's come time to renew our Costco membership, and we are trying to decide if it's worth it or not. We rarely go there, but once the baby comes, are there a lot of things that I will save on by shopping at Costco? I have heard that the diapers aren't so good, so anything else? :)

Re: Costco?

  • I'm at costco at least weekly.   I love their diapers!  Actually, liked them better than pampers...   their formula was fabulous for us (but we were buying for two...)  carters pjs, 7.50 --  little 2 pc outfts... bought my laptop there...  great for stocking up on easy dinners, stocking up on meat for the freezer.   we do the exec membership and I wouldnt trade it!

  • I personally love costco for baby things. They have inexpensive carters clothing, great baby wipes and I compare Kirkland brand to huggies! We shop there a lot just for baby stuff.
  • I love Costco!

We use their formula and wipes.  They don't carry Pampers but they do carry Huggies so if you like Huggies you can get them at Costco.  The Costco brand diapers are the same as Huggies Premium I think?

Ditto Beth too -- inexpensive Carter's clothes there too -- LOVE IT!

  • We were just there today, and I echo what PPs said. You can always beef up what you purchase. For instance,

    1. Bread is equal to buy one get one free.
    2. Milk is 2 gallons for 3.19
    3. Eggs are 2.29 for almost 2 dozen
    4. Pajamas (kids) 7.50
    5. Kids clothes you can get a deal on
    6. Kids toys are all over the joint right now.
    7. Meat is cheaper.
    8. Baby food, for when you start solids
    9. Formula
    10. wipes
    11. Avocados are way cheaper
    12. Onions are too.

The list goes on and on. We are only a family of three, but we strategically do our grocery shopping around what we purchase at Costco. I am a person that can never go without milk, eggs, and onions on hand. So we purchase those in bulk. You can alwasy find things to make the membership worth it!

  • I've heard people say that the Costco diapers are the same as Huggies but I really just don't think they are.   They seem way different to me.   We use the Costco diapers and wipes.  And we go once a week probably for all sorts of stuff.

  • YES!  We use the costco baby wipes by the ton!  They are only $15 a box for I think around 700 wipes!  We also used costco formula (even if you plan to bf you might want to also use some formula as they get older) Now we buy pretzels, hot pockets, boca burgers, turkey sticks, TOYS! and many more kid friendly stuff!!

  • We go to Costco so much usually once every 2 weeks or so.

We get wipes and when DS was on formula we got larger cans there. And now fruit, apple sauce for him, crackers, string cheese, all kinds stuff that he eats everyday.

  • The bag of chicken is worth the $50 a year membership.  I can't live without the Kirkland bag O Chicken.  I buy a bag about every other month.  I also get all DS's cetaphil lotions, body wash there, sometimes they carry designer clothing for a lot less. I could go on, I love costco.
  • Costco is my crackden. We're executive members and we spend enough to pay for the membership. We also have the Costco Amex, so we earn another check on top of the exec one. Love it.

I find it a lot cheaper on things like chicken, produce (like bagged salad, apples, avacodos), milk, eggs (the kind in a box), etc. I also get Carter's clothes there. It's easy to tell DH, uh, I kind of walked past it, and it was too cheap to not buy!

  • We too are exec members, so at the end of the year, our membership is free.  We also buy gas there most of the time.

Like pp's, we have a laundry list of staples we buy there.  We go usually weekly, sometimes more, sometimes less.

    Dog food

    milk/eggs

    cheese/ string cheese

    yogurt/Go-Gurt

    all fresh produce

    laundry soap

    diapers/wipes

Plus like others said the clothes are CHEAP!

    Plus EASY returns!

If you get the exec membership and are not happy, they will refund it, I've heard.
