Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Already a shortage of flu shots???

I called the pedi to schedule DD's flu shot, and was told to call back in a couple of weeks, because they've already run out :(

Yet my office is giving out free flu shots tomorrow to employees... many who probably don't need it. I'm not getting one, mainly because I'll be flying into Milwaukee.

But still... it kind of worries me. Anyone else heard of a shortage???

  • DH's college is not offering them to staff this year because they don't have enough. :(

  • My pedi only got a small shipment of infant/toddler doasage so we have to wait.   They said call next week since they are supposed to be getting another shipment.   As of right now, they only have the shot for older than 3 years old.

  • Yes, there's already a shortage of children's shots here.  DD is going in today for hers and we were told that they are squeezing her in since she was a preemie otherwise she wouldn't get one now and would have to wait several weeks.
  • Our office gives them out and we've had trouble b/c we've literally had twice as many people get one as last year (this is probably due to swine flu freak outs). We got a second shipment in today and we'll get another in 2 weeks. It really just depends on changes in demand.

A couple years ago there was an enormous shortage, too.

  • Our local children's shipments were delayed for a while.  We didn't have any children's flu vax's in the county until last week.  But, we've got plenty now.  We'll see how long they last.
