I love love love the Fried Apples from Cracker Barrel. I went apple picking this weekend so I need ideas for what to do with these.
Does anyone have a Grandma Paula Deen look-alike recipe to share?
Also any ideas on what else I can do with these apples besides eat them and make apple pie?
Re: Fried Apples?
Southern Fried Apples
2 TBS butter
10 apples, cored, peeled, and Sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Melt butter in a large skillet. Add sugars, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Add apples and ?fry? slowly, stirring often. Cook until apples are tender and light brown.
Not sure about fried apples, but I made the most delicious apple crisp after I went picking.

Skip the pears and use 6 large apples. Also you can cut out most of the sugar in the apple mixture.
I would just google apple recipes. I don't think there's any end to what you can do with them.
Now I want to make a tart.
Yes and yes, apple dumplings? I have never had those..but now I neeeed them!

Drool just started coming out of my mouth reading this.
I never would have thought it was that simple. For some reason when I think of "frying" I automatically assume you need to coast and dredge before hitting the pan. I **think** I can do this!
I felt like I was on Forest Gump. I have never made apple dumplings, but they are YUMMY!
:barfs: I loathe Waldorf Salad. My aunt makes it every Thanksgiving and everyone yums it up, to me it just reminds me of vomit for some reason.
Cracker Barrel leaves the skin on, can I too? Or maybe I will just do some with and some without? Or does that ruin the Southern Fried goodness of it?
Mmmmmm . . . fried apples.
Apples are also delish in coffee cake or muffins. And they're pretty darn tasty just cut up and dipped in peanut butter.
Meh, you can leave 'em if you want.
I do a few with skin and a few without. I think it is a personal preference.
