With my due date approaching I keep trying to imagine what it's going to be like with this new little man in my life . I have two DD's already and only had a sister growing up, so I really can't imagine what life will be like with a son! What is your favorite thing about having a son? If you have a DD too, do you notice major difference's between them? TIA!
Re: What's it like having a son?
It's awesome. They are such funny little critters.
Number one tip: keep the penis pointed DOWN into the diaper so that he doesn't pee out the top of it. LOL
DS - December 2006
DD - December 2008
Boys are different than girls, in lots of ways they are so much easier.
In the early days the only thing different is that you have to remember to cover the penis when you change his diaper or you will get a face full of pee.
As they grown things change, they think that any body function, farting, burping, going to the bahtroom etc is hillarous and reason to laugh.
They bring you bugs instead of flowers
hold your hand longer
do not insist on wearing the pink bathing suit every day of their life, in fact they really do not care if they wear clothes at all
They love touching themselves (this must be something men are born with)
Boys love their mommas so much! They are the best!!! My daughter is only 5 months today, so hard to compare. Don't worry though, he will fit right in. I thought the same thing about having a girl.
And so far, my kids are very similar in personality and meeting milestones.
NO ONE can make me laugh the way Joey makes me laugh.
And because he is your typical rough and tumble boy, when he gets snuggly and wants me to hold him/hug him, it's the BEST!
I have one of each, they are polar opposites in everything from looks/hair to personality, sleep habits, you name it. But it would be that way even if I had 2 of the same, they're just different people regardless of what parts they happen to have.
Really it's the same, just different parts to wash poop off of ;-) He's just as snuggly and sweet and playful and giggly as his sister. Likes to wear her tiaras & shoes... lol
I love having sons...I love having daughters, too, though! We have 2 girls & 2 boys, so we get to experience each gender equally! Boys are VERY different from girls, I will say that. I notice even in how I talk to our 11 month old DS, is very different from how I talked to our DD's (not quite as soft & sweet) when they were that age. Boys definitely like rougher play and a lot of times louder play! I do have to admit that shopping for little girls is much more fun, IMO! There is much more selection! I get frustrated by the selection for boys.
I will tell you that I have only been peed on twice (and once was his first week home) by our youngest DS and I do not cover his "boy bits" when I change him- ever. I thought this would be a much more common occurance! We do use the Prince Lionheart wipes warmer (LOVE it!) , so I am sure having a nice, warm wipe on him makes a diffence. If they were cold, we'd probably get sprayed a whole lot more frequently!
Enjoy your little man!
Boys are awesome! by far, my favorite thing about having a boy is the snuggling/cuddling when they are tired, scared, hurt, sick, etc. He loves to rough house with his daddy, but loves to have quiet time with me. And he is a hoot. So, so funny :-)
And like Lari said, always point down.
It's awesome! Since he's 4.5 mos, I'm learning from this post, too, but I describe it as x and y. You love them the same amount, but also in different ways. Which I guess is true of any two kids.
But: Jillie has been trying to catapault herself into the universe since birth. Adam is happy to watch her try.
Yep... whole other world. My girls are drama drama drama. Spunk, attitude, one extreme to the other. DS just sits back and takes it all in. Sooo laid back. He rough and tumble though! When he plays, he just throws himself at you with his whole body! But when he cuddles, he uses his whole body too
He's much more likely to crawl in the bed with me in the a.m. and give me kisses and ALWAYS wants to hold my hand, whereas his twin sister is Miss Independent.
Girls and boys are both SO SO SO fun, just in COMPLETELY different ways!!!
From what I gather from reading posts, boys are less dramatic, have less attitude, are more active, more daring/daredevlish, more prone to rolling in the mud LOL, eat bugs/worms, put bugs/worms/rocks in pockets, slower to talk, slower to PT, as well as slower to hit some milestones, and more relaxed about clothing, and just less opinionated than girls just to name a few!
Of course, with any rule, there are tons of exceptions on both sides like very active/busy girls and boys that like to sit quietly, etc.
