Lacing beads...what age?

Does your DC like these? ?

Re: Lacing beads...what age?

  • DD got hers for her 2nd bday. I really recommend getting ones with a "needle" (we have the Alex ones from Target, and the "needle" is a 1/4" thick wooden dowel). The needle makes it possible for it to be an independent activity. DD loves them. We have several different sets, but we always use the needle from the Alex set.

  • She doesn't have them, but I would think about 3 years or older would be good.

I think my niece got them at 3 or 3 1/2 years as a gift (either Christmas or her birthday).

  • Kids at 2 years should be able to put a large bead on a shoelace sized string. DD likes to make necklaces;)
  • DS can do it now, he learned over the summer.

  • DD loves them.  She started using them at preschool and now we have the Melissa and Doug wooden animal ones.

  • We don't have actual beads, but we do have lacing cards which DS enjoys.  He also really likes to string Cheerios onto a pipe cleaner - a snack and activity in one!
