I want the extras that my income allows. I like my job, love my boss and love the situation I have. I work PT and that is perfect. My schedule is flexible, and I am flex for my boss when he needs me on my regular days off.
I do not think I would make a good SAHM. I know some SAHM's that are absolutely awesome and just rock. Me, not so much.
I sort of am. I would like a job that allowed me to be home more, and to do something that I truly love (ie my photography). I'm not there right now, though.
**raising hand *** I love my career, my boss, having a life outside my family & all the extras we have because of my salary. My only complaint is that there aren't enough hours in the day -- but I could probably make better use of my time if I wasn't on HERE so much ;-)
Yes I'm going to SAH. With 2 in daycare now, the little extra money that we're clearing at month end isn't worth the aggrivation of us both working FT.I'm thankful that my DH is supportive of this and that we're financially able to swing it because I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED being home with the girls this summer.
This job that I've had for the past year (not counting maternity leave) is not really working out anyway. While I love to get paid good money to Nest all day, I hate feeling unproductive while I could be home with my family. I was glad I had the opportunity to try it out though.
I have to work; we couldn't get by on just DH's salary.
BUT, even if I didn't have to, I would still work. I've been at my new job for about 6 months, and I love it. I am actually in the type of career I want now, and I'm not willing to give that up.

So, follow-up, do you ever have days when you wish you didn't have this desire to work?
I love what I do, the people I work with, and the difference that I hope I am making.
But some days, I just wish I could turn that all off I guess sometimes I just hate the stress that I induce into my life, lol. Wondered if anyone else felt the same way?

Yes. There are times I wish I could be happy staying at home. DD was in daycare part time (basically morning preschool) while I was laid off. I just never got into a good routine. Plus it sucked not being able to spend money and always worrying about money. I just think that I need to be away from home and have time to spend doing something more intellectually stimulating than playing baby dolls.

isabella - I think (from all that I've read on here) that you have a very demanding job, so it is understandable that you feel that way. My job is demanding while I'm here, but I get to go home at 4:30 every day, pick up my kids, and do my thing at home. I do travel some, but I am able to fly to a project and still be home before bedtime that day. It is nothing compared to the hours that you put in at your job.
It doesn't sound like your job is the kind of job that you could go find a different place to work, still do what you love, but have more flexibility with your schedule. Am I right?

Well, that is part of it. I could do my 'job' just not as crazy as I am now, lol. I make more work for myself because I don't stop - I keep saying yes, taking on more responsibility, etc. Like I said, I LOVE what I do. Just sometimes I feel like - man, I just want a less stressful life.
