I'm working on Adam's Christmas list and I wanted to put some new books on there. He's still very hard on books, so we probably still need board books, but I think he can soon handle some books with more words. What do your 24+ month old kids love right now?
Re: Please suggest some new books
I think all of the Sandra Boynton books are cute, and I think they're all board books. (The Going To Bed Book, Barnyard Dance, Fifteen Animals are some of our favorites.)
Anything by Eric Carle or Bill Martin Jr. are also favorites.
DD still really likes the "If you give a..." books. Some of those come in board books. She's also really liking the Franklin the turtle books. Lots of words... but not board books, unfortunately.
Otherwise? I'd take him to the library and let him pick a bunch out. Take some home, see which ones he adores. I really learned DD's reading taste while watching her at the library. It's a little different than mine!
He'll be thrilled when he sees some of those books that he'd loved from the library under the tree.
They have some of the "How Do Dinosaurs..." in board book form and those are terrific. Check out some of the Peggy Rathman ones like Goodnight Gorilla.
ETA: Oh and for a cute lift-the-flap one, check out Dear Zoo about the search for just the right pet.
