  • Honestly, it was GREAT!  She did really well on the plane.  I'd just stick with feeding, paci during take off and landing on the plane.  The plane was definitely "white noise" for her, and she slept the whole time on 2/4 flights.  The other 2, she napped but was awake and looking around or just eating her hands most of the time.  I'd bring some toys that he likes in case he is awake.

The sea air totally knocked her out...or it was a combo of that and the heat down there.  She was asleep every night no later than 9pm when usually she is wide awake until 11, so Brooks may be more tired than normal.  SHe also slept a lot during the day, so be prepared for that if you are out or on the beach.  She hates being hot, which we knew ahead of time and were really worried about.  We used the tent when we were on the beach, and didn't go during peak sun hours, but mostly later in the afternoon if we were just going to hang out on the beach.  The other activities we did during the day were either on a boat or on a shaded beach.  Check out shaded beach areas on the island before you get there.  Even though the sun shade helped, the tree shade kept it much cooler for her.  Two other things we were happy to have were a handheld fan and a cup of water to "dab" her down every so often.  If I had thought of that before, we could have brought a spray bottle to mist her.  She did not go in the ocean at all, but the pool.  I was thinking it would be the opposite when we first went.  The ocean where we stayed was really rocky and only good for snorkeling.  The other beaches we went to, she was asleep most of the time!

All I can say is just be flexible and follow his cues.  Know that he may be DONE after only 1 hour, if that.  You may have to NIP or bring bottles along to feed on the beach.  If that is the case, we "heated" the milk by sitting in the sun for a few minutes or even holding it in the ocean water...weird, I know but the water was REALLY warm.  This at least took the chill off the milk and she took it cold because it was so hot.  If he is OK with taking a cold bottle now, then that is great!

Sorry so long, but let me know if you have any other specific questions I can help with.  Were you able to find a sun tent?  If not, you are still welcome to borrow ours.  When are you going again?
