Trying to Get Pregnant

O Date Question

Do you O on the same day each cycle?  Or is there a range of days when you might O?  How long is that range?

This is only my 2nd cycle charting and last cycle I O'd on CD 17, but today, CD 11, I woke up with tons of EWCM and I was wondering what is a reasonable range for O?

I know I won't know until my temps go up, but I was just curious what others experience.

Thanks, I am still new at all of this!

Re: O Date Question

  • I O between cd12-16. I used to O around cd18 but haven't in probably 9 months. It depends on how long my cycle is. It ranges from 27-34 days. My LP is always about the same 14 days.

Cycles change month to month and this is completly normal. Try charting on FF. After a few cycles it can help you see hwat your average is in cd length, O days, lp

  • Hey MrsMags :),  My friend who is an OBGYN nurse told me that whatever day you would usually expect to ovulate on, you should expect to vary 3-4 days before and after every month.  So basically, with the help of charting, you should be having sex regularly until you see that temp change!  Hope this helps!
  • No problem:) GL
  • I am new to this as well... but from what I have read and seen on other women's charts, your O date can be completely different every month.  FF has been my saving grace.  GL

Nope. I've O'ed on CD14, I've O'ed on CD36. The number that should remain consistent is your luteal phase (the number of days between ovulation and when your period begins). Ovulation can be delayed by many things, and it is not abnormal for it to fluctuate some.

This is what I was just going to say.  After a year of charting, my O day is usually within three or four days either way.  But having said that, during couple of months that I had a lot of stress, the O day was completely different.  As kdodge said though, your LP should stay pretty consistent.
