I saw your post below about your DD's hip surgery/cast and had a few questions if you don't mind sharing. Does you DD have hip dysplasia? Was she ever in a pavlik harness?

My DD was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 7 weeks and was put in a pavlik at 8 weeks. She wore it for 6 weeks for 23 hours a day. She is now wearing it only at night for another 6 weeks.

I have recently heard 2 stories(friends of friends) where the dysplasia was diagnosed and treated early, then about a year later the child ends up in a cast. Just wondering what your experience was. Wishing your DD a speedy recovery Smile

  • Hi!  I definitely don't mind answering your questions!  Unfortunately our DD's hip dysplasia was so severe that the harness wasn't even an option.  We had to go straight to surgery.  Aubrey is a bit of a different case... her doctor says she got a "triple whammy."  She suspects Aubrey had mild hip dysplasia when she was born, but because of her rough birth she also sustained some nerve damage, AND she has mild CP that affects her legs.  The CP has caused her groin tendons to tighten and pull her hips out of place even more.  Hopefully your DD's case remains simple and easily fixed by the harness.  GL!
