I would guess it's irritated by something but is not pink eye if there's no discharge. In my own limited experience with pink eye there's usually goop in the eye.
I'm no expert, though. I hope she feels better soon!

It could be pink eye. DD had pinkeye once and had just a little crust on her eye when she woke up. Do her eyes look glass and is there a watery discharge. If so, those are also signs of pink eye. Sensitivity to light is also a symptom. Did she get anything in her eye yesterday that could have caused it? There are over the counter pink eye drops. They say they are all natural. I think the brand is Simalson (or something like that). I used them for myself once when allergy drops didn't work. I have never used them on a child so I'd check with a pharmacist at least before giving them to your DD. Good luck!

If it's crusty it could be pink eye. I'd do lots and lots of handwashing to be safe and I believe there's some kind of homeopathic pink eye remedy that you can get OTC.

Thanks for your replies. Her eye is just a little crusty but not runny or puss like...
