I'm sorry I don't have any advice with the c-section but, I want you to know that I'll be thinking about you on Monday. I am so excited for you. I can't wait to hear about Christiana's birthday!
Try to get out of bed as soon as you can. I did so much better with my second c-s in part because I got up the same day to use the bathroom (with help) and by the second day I was walking to the nursery. Also, try to stay ahead of the pain by taking pain meds before pain gets unbearable. You may need to buzz the nurse to remind her for them -- don't be shy. Good luck!
two words: stool softener. trying to push after a c/s, clear liquid diet, and abdominal surgery is REALLY painful. ask the nurses for stool softeners beginning on day 1 - it really helps.
Also buy giant granny panties so you don't mess up your own, and plan to toss them once you're done.
And walk as much as you can. as someone else said, it really helps.
Congrats and good luck!

Ditto previous post, definitely try to get our of bed as soon as you can, it will help you recover much, much quicker. Even if you just walk around the room or go to the nursery to visit LO. Obviously do it carefully, slowly, but definitely do it. It might be a good idea to have DH sleep in the same room with you the first few nights. My DH was extremely helpful with helping me get out of bed and getting me "stuff" that I needed .... Also, bear in mind you may (I really hope you don't) experience an "air pocket" going up to either one or both shoulders after the surgey, make sure you have the pain med ready because the pain is UNBEARABLE ... again, I pray you really don't get this. The only good thing is you'll forget all about your incision.....LOL!
I wish you a wonderful day and a quick recovery....congrats!

Get up and walk as soon as they say you can - and do it often, even though it hurts- the more you do it the less it hurts... the more you rest up too long it will hurt twice as much the next time you get up. Getting out of bed is the hardest part- at least for me - walking was fine. It only hurt for a few days.
Stay on top of your meds- take them every 4 hours as Rx'd - don't try to be a hero and not take them or wait too long.
keep incision dry by putting maix pads in your pants... and when home - blow it dry on low setting after showering. My incision is still not 100% healed b/c it was summer and sweaty and so hard to keep it dry - it doesn't hurt me, but it's still a little oozy.
Hello! Ditto PP's: get out of bed as soon as you can. I was taken to my post-partum room around 10 pm (after being in recovery for 2 hours), and by 3 am, the nurse had me up and walking to the bathroom and bathing (with help). The pain wasn't bad for me, but my epidural was still in . As others have also said, don't be shy about managing your pain. The more comfortable you are, the easier your recovery will be. I am about two weeks post-partum, and I honestly feel great. If I had to, I probably could have gone back to work (as a first grade teacher) by now! Other than that, enjoy the experience, from seeing hubby in his scrubs, to hearing that beautiful first cry... just take it all in- you'll do just fine!

Lets see....Get up and start moving as soon as they will let you. Take all of your pain meds even if you're not hurting. This will keep you from hurting and will allow you to get up and moving.
Take your own pillows to the hospital and steal all the mesh panties asyou possibly can. : )

Basically what everyone else said...the one thing that no one told me and I found out later was pretty common is, you may feel like you can't breath during the surgery. I seriously felt like my lungs were colapsing and couldn't breathe. Of course they weren't but it just felt that way. Apparently it is pretty common and your anethsethia person should warn you but mine didn't.

This - I had no idea it was going to happen. Isn't there someway to prevent it?
Oh and take the anti-gas meds they give you or ask for them to prevent the air pocket.
No experience so no advice to offer. I am just incredibly excited for you! I can't wait to hear you tell us how she has changed your life for the better. I am so excited for you to experience motherhood! XOXO!
Start taking colace now. The combo of prenatals, anaesthesia and painkillers does a number on your system. Better to start fresh before you go into surgery, if you get my meaning. Your abs won't want to do the same work after surgery that they'll do before.

This happens if they put the needle just a little higher than usual during the spinal. I had this happen during my repeat c, not with my first, and I'm certain it's because the anesthesiologist felt he needed to place the needle above a tattoo. Just practice taking slow calm breaths, that you might not FEEL, but are in fact taking.
Aside from all the great advice from everyone else, don't be afraid to send the baby to the nursey and SLEEP. This is your last chance to get some solid sleep (in between vital checks and all the other annoying crap the nurses do) , but seriously try to rest as much as possible in the hospital. Your body is recovering from a major surgery and you have the rest of your life to take care of this beautiful baby. Good Luck!
No advice re the c-section but wanted to wish you GL!!! And come back afterwards for support and questions. Those first few weeks are HARD!!!! Hearing some encouraging words and getting some advice from recent moms here can make a world of difference.
