Anyone dealt with night terrors?

I'm wondering if that's what we went through last night.  Long story short....G was a terrible sleeper.  Almost two months ago (at 15 months) we did CIO and it worked wonderfully.  He was sleeping 11 straight hours within 4 days.  Well last night, he was up almost all night.  Went to bed at 8, was up from 10:30 until probably 12:30 screaming and crying.  He was only calm when we had Elmo on.  We had an out-of-town guest, so I was worried about him crying too much and keeping him awake, so I ended up letting him fall asleep in our bed.  He slept til about 3:00 and then screamed and cried until 4...an hour straight of screaming.  I couldn't console him at all...Elmo didn't even work this time.

He cut three teeth last week, and though he didn't have a fever he did have a runny nose yesterday.  I'm just trying to figure out what it might have been last night.  Anyone gone through night terrors?  Does it sound like that?

The only experience I have ever had with night terrors is when my brother used to get them. They were awful. He would walk around "zombie like" as if he were awake, but you could see that his eyes were glazed over and he wasn't. My mom said she would have to wait until he calmed down (because with night terrors they never fully wake) and then she would escort him back to bed. Sometimes he would walk around moaning, other times he would yell holding his arm like it was really hurting him (it was not fun to watch) and they seemed to occur when he had a lot of stressful situations occurring around him. They can also be triggered by being overtired. The good news is he outgrew them.

I started to wonder if Bella was getting those too because she would wake up screaming and it would be nearly impossible to calm her down. I would just lay her in the bed with us and snuggle her until it passed. She hasn't had one in a while.

    Good luck.

I dont have any experience with night terrors but a friend of mine had a child with night terrors that were caused from being over tired. They adjusted his night time routine and put him down a little earlier and the night terrors went away. HTH

Thanks, ladies.  If they're not fully awake, then these probably weren't night terrors because I'm sure he was awake.  Last night he woke up once, and even though he was awake for an hour, he wasn't crying unconsolably this time.  I guess it's the teeth...  He just hadn't cried like that since he was a newborn!  And I was always able to calm him down by nursing him....that's one of the downfalls of weaning him I guess!
