is there any way other than a sonogram to know weather or not the baby is breech? i feel licks very low, and a rolling sensation behind my hip. they are powerful so im assuming that they are kicks and not punches.
anyone else in the same boat? i guess i could just ask my OB, just seems kinda silly, if they were concerned they would check right?

My lo was breech because i always felt a big lump like the size of a fist bobbing around under my ribcage but i was assured not to worry until 36 weeks.
And they were very right, my LO changed positions last week and is now head down, so don't panic just yet, you still have lots of time!

My midwife could tell by feel, too. However I get that big lump under my rib cage and it's his or her little @ss.

To me, it's very very hard to tell the difference between a head and a butt when I'm feeling the lump under my rib cage. But yeah, I would assume that an OB or midwife could tell the difference.
Plus, on my last 3 u/s, the baby is not in a fetal position, but is basically folded in half, so the feet are up by the head - crazy kid! So the kicks don't really tell me anything, if they move it could just mean that it got into a more normal position.
The best way I've heard to tell if the baby is breech or not is when the baby hiccups, where do you feel it? I know mine was breech just over a week ago, and this week when it had hicccups the top of my belly was moving and my whole chest was jumping up with each hiccup! (Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "heaving bosoms")
And the baby basically just swims all over the place until 35 weeks, but most can still flip until 37 weeks... after that, fewer flip on their own, but it's possible for them to flip even in labor.
