3rd Trimester

Would you go?

I am in a pretty darn cool mentoring program at work.  It's a year long program.  The kickoff was in DC and the wrap up will be in DC.  So, it's a couple day trip to Washington DC.  It'll involve some fancy receptions and all day mingling type events and we'll be put up at a Ritz Carlton.  Pretty darn cool event that I kind of assumed I'd attend.

But... I'll either need to drag DH and a newborn along... or leave them behind... not sure how I feel about that.

WWYD?

ETA:  It's the first week of December.  LO is due Oct 14th

Re: Would you go?

  • How old will L/O be?  DH would want to come and site-see with the baby while I was busy, but that's us :)

It shouldn't be too cold in DC then, I still say take them along.

  • I would totally go and bring DH and baby :)  It'll be a fun chance to get out of the house together and being put up at the ritz is something I can't pass up!

We're going across the country for the holidays and our LO's will be about the same age at that time.  My doctor said she should be fine, just to sling her so people aren't tempted to touch her.  She also recommended we bring her carseat in case there's an empty seat to put it in (unless you buy your LO their own seat), but it sounds like fun to me as long as DH won't mind having baby all day.  There's TONS to do in DC and most of it is free, he could take her to all types of museums and whatnot, walk around with her and leave if she gets fussy and no money lost.  GL!

  • I'd go. I think it sounds like too cool of an experience to pass up.

  • My main concern is that there are lots of germs involved with flying.  I don't want LO getting sick either

Is that just silly to be worried about?

  • As long as you can bring DH, I'd bring the whole fam.
  • Go!  I love DC and lived there for 10 years --as long as you get the OK from the Dr. for your LO's travel take the family.  Is it the Ritz downtown or in Georgetown - I've stayed at the G-town location and it is Awsome! and perfectly located.
  • Hey Larissa! Smile  I would definitely want to go and bring the family (I don't think I could stand to be separated from the baby that early on), although I understand your concern about germs on airplanes... especially during flu season and with this whole swine flu thing going around now.  What does your Dr. think?

Laura!!!  Good to see you.  I haven't actually asked my doctor.  Funny that ideas like that never cross my mind :)

  • I would have been too exhausted to bring or leave my 6 week old no matter what the event was. I'd probably skip it and I'm someone who has no problem leaving DS every once in awhile but that didn't start until 4 months +. Bringing the little one will just mean that you will be tired and probably not enjoying the even anyway, unless of course you are one of the lucky few that has a 6 week old sleeping through the night. I wouldn't bet on that though.?
