Allergic reaction to flu shot = rough day

So I got ds and I got our flu shots on Wed. By that night I had the chills, fever, chest pains, and bad sore throat.  I thought I had just come down with whatever DH had earlier in the week. I woke up yesterday feeling worse, so I decided to stay home. By 1 I had blisters at the injections site and it was very swollen and feverish. I called my Dr. office and they saw me quickly. Yeah apparently what I had Wed. night was anaphylactic shock. My chest hurting was small asthma attacks and my sore throat was my throat shutting off air. So for the next 6 days I am on steroids and have to carry an epi pen everywhere. On the bright side, besides it feeling like my arm has been through a meat grinder I feel much better today. After all this I will still get my DS shot annually and now I am a flu mister for life

  • Wow! Have you ever had a flu shot before?

  • I've heard the shot hurts BAD this year!!!  boooooo!

and that sucks about your reaction...not good.

  • Yeah I have had it since 1999, and usually swells up and then that is it..but while the swelling is common that was an early sign that I was allergic. So now I can not have any flu vaccines because in the words of my Dr. yesterday I could die.
