I remember last year when the study came out that having a fan in the baby's room reduces the risk of sids by up to 72%. I'm having a hard time, though, trying to find out whether the fan needs to be blowing directly on the baby, or just somewhere in the room. I'm in an apartment, so I can't exactly install a ceiling fan, and I'm trying to figure out whether to buy a pedestal fan that will be tall enough to blow into the crib, or if one that sits on the floor near the crib will do the trick.
Does anyone have any info on this? TIA!
Re: fan placement for reducing sids risk
I don't think you need it blowing directly into the crib necessarily... Just having one in the room is good for air ciculation in general. I think that's why it reduces the risk of sids...
Sorry, off topic. But I just had to comment on your LO. He is so precious, I'm tearing right now. My FI's niece is still in intensive care after being delivered at 27 weeks 3 weeks ago. I haven't seen her yet, but FI said he wanted to cry when he saw her at the hospital with all the tubes coming in and out of her. Your LO is a reminder to me that my niece will be okay.
