Elders- dr appt/hospital bag q

Do you take your hospital bag to your weekly appts with you in case they keep you?

My hospital/dr is over a half hour from my house so I'm wondering if I should throw my bag in my car for dr appt days...

Re: Elders- dr appt/hospital bag q

  • I'm not an elder, but I've been there before so I'm going to give my $0.02 :)?

I didn't take my hospital bag with me, but my hospital is only like 10 minutes away. If I were you, I would just throw it in the car. It's not like it's going to take up that much space! And since your hospital is 30+ minutes away, you'll want DH with you and not running back home to get your bag :) ?

  • No.  I'm trying not to get my hopes up yet.

  • I don't because I figure DH can grab it on his way to meet me at the hospital (he doesn't come with me to appts).  But if you are worried, just leave it in the trunk of your car!
  • While I'm not quite an elder...I would just in case, especially living that far away.  Doesn't hurt to be prepared.

  • I haven't since ours is 15 minutes away. We also need to put in the carseat. I am sure it wouldn't hurt.
  • I keep my bag in the car with me and have since being diagnosed with pre-e since I never knew when they would admit me again.

  • No. If the doctor sent me to the hospital, I'd just call DH and tell him to swing by the house and pick up the bag on his way to join me. There's really nothing in it that I would *absolutely* need to have the baby, anyway.

  • Not an elder but once ours is packed we plan to keep it in the car, we only have one car so we know that will be the one we take then no matter where we are we will be able to go straight there.

    This.

Also, because both my doctor's clinic and the hospital are 5 minutes away from each other, and the hospital is *maybe* 10 minutes away from home. DH can get my stuff later.

  • I haven't been since we live only 15 minutes away... if needed hubby could run home to get it before arriving at the hospital.  It's up to you... no biggie to toss it in the car so why not?

  • No, I haven't.  I've never had any indication that there was a chance they would keep me, so I don't bother with it.
  • I'm not an elder, but I would take it!  For both me and my sister, my mom was just going in for regular appointments--and came out both times with a baby!  If you don't live too close, then I'd say take it.
  • Embarrassed I still need to pack mine...
