3rd Trimester

Cramps at night, not really during day?

The past few nights I have had a lot of cramping at night, and then during the day I don't really notice them.

I am drinking tons of water (and hence I'm up a bunch of times during the night).  Last night I was feeling a lot of discomfort from cramps (I can't say they were timable... if anything they were spread out).

Anyone else?

Re: Cramps at night, not really during day?

  • Yep, I had them for a couple of weeks, mostly while I was in bed, and they weren't very pleasant. Only had them once during the morning. Unfortunately, they've since tapered off. :( I'm only getting BH again now.

  • Yes!  I keep waking up during the night to lots of cramps/contractions, but during the day, I only notice BH.

    It's frustrating...

  • I've noticed that, too. I get REALLY uncomfortable at night, but have no problems during the day.  Weird.

  • my dr and nurse said the cramping...feels kinda like mentrual cramps right?...comes from the body trying to drop the baby and open your cervix. strangly though I've been having this for a few weeks now, and my cervix is still completely closed.

  • i had this all last week- terrible cramping at night- and infrequent to no cramping during the day- only braxton hicks. when i wake up my stomach is sore like i had spent the night doing crunches! at my appointment last friday, i was 2 cm dialated and my cervix had mostly thinned out (didn't get an actual percentage) and the baby's head had dropped into position. my dr. said that was what all the cramping was about. i've had it some this week, but not as much. i guess we'll see if there is anymore progress at tomorrow's appointment!

i guess its just one of the joys of those last few weeks. fun!
