TTC after 35

IUI #2 - BFN

I'm 12 dpiui today and tested at home.  BFN.  My beta is tomorrow.  I'm really starting to feel defeated now and don't know how much more of this I can take.  I'm giving myself until the end of the year and then throwing in the towel.  We're OOP so I'm not sure how much more we can afford.  We'll have a WTF appointment with the RE soon since it's been three failed attempts so I'll be curious to hear her thoughts.

Re: IUI #2 - BFN

  • I'm really sorry to hear this.  Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully the beta will pick up hcg that a hpt does not.

Have you considered getting a second opinion from a different RE?

  • I'm very sorry.  Here's hoping that the beta will have better results.

  • I can't remember are you going to SGF?

  • Yes, I go to SGF in Annandale.  As far as a second opinion, I haven't really thought about it.  I guess I just figure that REs are all pretty much the same and they'll all wind up suggesting the same thing.  Maybe I'm wrong about that.  I'm also afraid of having to start over, in a sense, with someone new.  I'm just not getting any younger nor is my patience with this getting any better!  I'm just debbie downer right now and I know I'll snap out of it.  The bfns are just biting a little more each time and wearing away at what I thought was a strong resolve.

  • I'm so sorry.  I went through 3 BFN IUI's and I know the roller coaster ride you're on.  Have you talked to your RE about IVF?  I know you're OOP so I don't know if it's in the budget but if IUI isn't working, IVF can have more success.  Some hospitals have grants that help people in certain income levels too so you could check into that for IVF.  Good luck!

  • I am sorry you are going through this. I understand your frustrations. I expect my 2nd IUI will be a BFN too based on my chart................I wish you all the best......never give up, you never know how close you are to success!

  • I am sorry you got a BFN.

I am a Shady Grove pt too and they have some decent Shared Risk programs.  Not sure if they extend to IUIs.
