Measuring Big

When I went in for my checkup at 24 weeks, my doctor measured my uterus 3 times before telling me that I was measuring 26 weeks.  I heard that this was normal and that sometimes you measure biger and sometimes you measure smaller and sometimes you're right where you should be.  However, when I went back at 29 weeks, my doc told me that I'm measuring 31 weeks.  When he told me this I said, "So am I just going to have a really big baby, Doc?"  He pretty much confirmed that, but I'm still hoping my due date is just slightly off.

I measured 2 weeks ahead from weeks 24-30, at my check up on Monday she is measuring where she is supposed to.

I've measured ahead (via sono and fundal height) at every appt so far... though the OB is not budging on the due date, so I guess he's just a giant monster baby.

I measured 6 weeks ahead for the last trimester of my pregnancy and still went on to be 42 weeks pregnant

I was measuring ahead about 2 weeks for most of my pregnancy- was induced at 40wks3days due to doc's concern about DS's size- he was 9lbs1oz at birth.

It can also be your uterus shape. I measured 42 weeks when I was 33 weeks. I had an ultrasound, and baby is only one week ahead, not 9. It doesnt necessarily mean big big baby.

I asked my midwife this same question this morning. I'm measuring 33 cm, but only 29 weeks (numbers should correlate, which I didn't even know until a few days ago!).  She said anything within a 3 cm difference is completely normal, it just depends on where your baby is positioned at the time.

I've been measuring 2 weeks ahead since 28 weeks, and my EDD is very accurate (LMP and early ultrasound agree). Fundal height is not necessarily predictive of a big baby.
