I just got back from my first internal exam and she said I am 1 cm dilated, which is fine. But I am 75% effaced, she was verrrry shocked about it and said his head is so low. She also said that with it being that thin she would be shocked if I made it to 40 weeks and she is estimating he could be here around 2-3 weeks...has this happened to anybody else?

I go to the doctor tomorrow because of intense painful on and off braxton hicks and I have a feeling i'll be getting a similar answer.  I dropped so much in the past week that I imagine she is hanging out pretty low as well.

yes i've also been having intense BH! especially when i'm walking for long periods of time. on the bright side she wrote me a note for work to cut my shifts in half because at this point it's medically necessary

i just got back from the doctor and he said i was 3cm and that he doesnt expect me to make it to my due date, that he estimates ill give birth in a couple of weeks....or that if i called him next week in labor, he wouldnt be suprised...?????

walking is definately making it worse for me as well.  I'll send you a PM if my doctor gives me anymore info than you got.

my dr told me at my last appointment that she doesn't see me making it to 40 weeks.  she told me that i could have my little one in 5-6 weeks. that was with no internals she does not start those till next week. she didn't want to change the due date she just thought it would be hard for me to carry to 40 weeks nothings wrong just her opinion.

I went in at 35 w exactly and they told me I wouldn't make it to my due date.  I was 2 cm and 80% effaced and starting regular contractions. I had my baby at 35 weeks 4 days.

I was checked at 35 weeks and was almost a 2 and 80% effaced. I have been that way for almost 3 weeks now! You just never know! Good luck!

At my first internal last week I was 1-2 cm dilated and almost completely effaced (at least 90%).  I was told that being that effaced didn't mean anything as to when I'd deliver and that it just meant that my body would have less work to do later on.

I could have written this post 4 weeks ago (I had the same progress at 36 weeks at my first internal). I am still here and my doctor did say he thought I'd go early. Now I am 90% effaced and 1.5 dilated...
