using vinegar to clean?

I'm finally using up my ready-made ecover and am getting ready to switch (for hte most part) to homemade cleaners. I'll probably have more questions in a bit, but for a start, how do you use vinegar  - what ratio of vinegar to water (or other products) do you use? I've got a spray bottle, but all I know is you don't use neat vinegar???

Re: using vinegar to clean?

  • for an all purpose cleaner you'll want a 50/50 ratio of vinegar to water. i've started adding a bit of dish soap and Grapefruit Seed Extract to mine - I think the recipe I used is in the EFF blog that Poonico started. But straight vinegar/water would work as well - I used that for ages. I do add some EO to mine, though, to cut the smell a bit. I'm not a huge fan of vinegar, even if it does go pretty quickly.

  • I probably should measure but I never do.  I probably do about 49% vinegar, 50% water and the other 1% is  a mix of Dr. Bronner's and EO.....eh, probably not even 1% because that be a lot.
  • Thanks!
