spotting stories - please share

My best friend found out she was pg two days after me.  I was super excited.  she shared with me that she has been spotting pretty much since she took the hpt and went to the doctor.  Her level of HCG? was 45.  She went in yesterday and they said it was higher and the doctor wasn't concerned.

My question to any of you is if anyone has experienced similar spotting.  She is worried she is miscarrying (as am I) but I just tell her to keep thinking positive until she knows for sure.

Thanks in advance girls. I just want to hear some good endings.

  • if her hcg is going up then shes most likely not having a mc...possibly implantation which is normal. some women spot quite a bit and have normal pregnancies.

  • I spotted alot from 7-8.5 weeks and again from 11-12 weeks and baby #1 was just FINE :)  Tell your friend not worry unless she has red blood and severe cramping.  Best of luck to her!

  • I have had spotting issues since the day I found out I was pregnant. I took the test in the morning and in the afternoon had bleeding. It started out red in color andpretty light but I obviously was concerned. I had a blood test done and my hormone levels were low so I had to take two more tests and the hormones doubled each time.

After the firs tday of bleeding the red color turned more into a brown color and had been that way since. Last week (almost 8 weeks pregnant) I called the dr to say that I still had the brown spotting and I went in for an ultra sound. I have a hemorrhage/tear where the placenta meets the wall, but is apparently nothing too worry about unless the bleeding goes red and heavy. We saw the heart beat too!

I am glad to say that as of now, almost 9 weeks no more spotting! So as long as your friend is not bleeding red (filling a pad) with severe cramping from what I am told it is nothing to worry about!

Best of luck and congrats to both of you!

  • I spotted off and on from the 2ww to 5th week and it finally died down (I'm in the middle of the 7th week). If her HCG is going up she is ok!
  • thanks for the good news.  It seems she can only find bad endings and I would like to share a couple with her.

I really hope she is okay.  I'm excited to share this experience with her.

  • I had bright red bleeding from about 4 1/2 weeks to 10 weeks when I was pg with DS.  Because the bleeding was heavy and red, I went to the ER the first time it happened.  My first HCG level that day was 25 (on the VERY low end of normal).  Over the next couple weeks my levels continued to double like they should.  The bleeding was scary and it's hard to not worry, but as long as your friends HCG levels are doubling every 24 to 72 hours, there is no reason to worry.  It may be implantation bleeding or in my case, they think it was a spot on the placenta.
  • I spotted for about a week to a week and a half.  It was light brown and only once a day when I wiped.  The last time it happened was this past weekend and at my appoint today they didn't seem concerned at all about it.  GL!

  • I've been spotting off and on (mainly brown, occasional pink) since 5w. It's horribly frustrating and scary but after several ultrasounds my doctors say there is nothing to worry about, everything is progressing just fine. Much easier said than done though. Tell your friend I feel her pain and hopefully it will taper down soon!
