OB-GYN Recommendations in Princeton, NJ area

Hi -

I'm looking for recommendations for ob-gyn's in the Princeton, NJ area.  My husband and I are TTC #1.

I recently moved out here from NYC and it's just too far to keep going back for doctor's visits.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: OB-GYN Recommendations in Princeton, NJ area

  • Welcome to the area... my husband and I relocated from NYC in January and went through the same thing. We go to Drs. Friedman, Gross and Petraske at Princeton OBGYN. I have been very satisfied with all 3 doctors and the staff so far. The phone # is 609-683-9292. They are affiliated with UMC Princeton and their office is right on the Hospital's campus on Witherspoon St. Good luck!

  • OMG- Can't believe she suggested them!  They are also my doctors... and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone and everyone.  I followed my doctor there (Dr Hofman- my favorite).  I have gone to him for 20 years and he recently switched practices to them.  If you can get him, go for it.  I have never had such personal terrific medical attention given to me ever in my life.

    Good luck!

  • LOL!  I go to the same practice!

I love the doctor's there, all of them are very nice and helpful.  Dr. Gross isn't the friendliest, but he's a good doctor.

You'll see all the doctors in the practice at least twice and they're really great about working around your schedule.

  • I delivered with Princeton Midwifery, Part of Delaware Valley OBGYN, they are wonderful!  I liked that the Midwives were part of a practice, so I got the more personal feeling care for me, but when I was in the hospital doctors still came and helped in the process.

  • Princeton's hospital has a fairly high C-section rate and they are not one of the state's Regional Perinatal Centers. I live in East Windsor and I drive to Ewing to see Dr. James O'Mara he has wonderful bedside manner and runs a wonderful/traditional practice...it's just him and he is ALWAYS available. He delivers at Capital Health in Trenton which has the lowest C-section rate in the state and a top Regional Perinatal Center...he is also the Director of Women's Health.

When i lived down there I went to Lawrence OB/Gyn and my primary there was Dr William Stannell.  I LOVED him.  When I moved for two years I drove 2 hours to see him instead of getting a doc where I lived.  I just think he's the best.
