Is quarterly too frequent to have photos done?

Our photographer did such an awesome job that I'm considering having our photos done quarterly.  Is that too extreme? Maybe twice a year instead?

  • I don't think so, especially when they're still young. At 5, or 7? Yes, but not as babies/toddlers/preschoolers. They change too much!
  • I did quarterly for the first year of DS1 and DS2's lives, but now I'm trying to cut back a bit.  I'll for sure do birthday and I'd like to do fall each year too (because those photos outside are so cute!).  I feel like we should do xmas ones too.  I'm a bad person to answer though because I love to have photos taken of my boys.

  • I do photos every 3 months for the first 2 years, and then every 6 months.

But I am talking about the $8 photo package at JCPenney, not an expensive photographer.

  • I did it for the first two years. I was lucky and was able to get a couple done with other things like my sisters bridals. I don't think I would pay prof photographer prices four times a year.
  • I get a lot, so I'm probably a bad person to answer!  Looking around my house, I've been a bit of a photographer whore the last couple of years :)  But I have two very young kids, so for their different birthdays, Christmas each year, etc, it makes sense.  I'm sure it will slow down to about once or twice a year when they are older.

  • IMO, you can NEVER have enough photos.  This coming from a girl who has MAYBE 10 photos of herself growing up.  There is one when I'm a baby and my dad has an afro (literally) and his clothes are hilarious.  The porn star mustache, etc.  I wish there were more so I could laugh at them!  ;)
  • I agree with Jodi. Part of the reason that I have a couple of thousand pics since DS was born is that there aren't a ton from my own childhood. I'd rather have my kids say I took too many than too few.
