Spotting after stopping PIO shots

I posted this message on the Success After IF but got no responses, so I am hoping any of you girls on here in 1st tri that went through IVF can help. 

So, my last PIO shot was last Friday and I was 9w6d.  Everything was fine over the weekend (no spotting or cramping) and then this morning when I went to the bathroom there was a little brownish discharge.  It was there again later in the morning and now I don't see much at all.  Did anyone else experience this after stopping the PIOs?  It just seems weird that this hasn't happened until now that I stopped the shots.

Hello Babykins11. Well, I went through IVF with ICSI and was on PIO for the first 10 weeks of pregnancy as well. I had blood tests before being told to stop to ensure my progesterone levels were high enough to support the pregnancy without continuing the shots. Did they check your blood levels?

 I also had some brown spotting at 5w, then at late 6w, and 10w. I had my 12 week ultrasound last week and all is well, so a bit of brown spotting is not usually a cause for concern. If it's accompanied with heavy cramping then you should get looked at. I was concerned at 6w when I saw the spotting again because it was a lot more, so I went to the ER and it turned out to be nothing.

I would call the Doctor, just so they can put your mind at ease. Good luck!

Thanks Mendy!  The only time they ever checked my progesterone levels was during my first two betas and they said they were great.  Last week when my RE had me stop PIO shots though, he said that everything should have taken over two weeks ago (at like 7 or 8 weeks) and that he leaves people on the shots an extra two weeks just in case.  So maybe that is why they didn't test the levels?

Yeah, I had brown spotting for like 2 weeks from weeks 4 to 5 right when I found out I was pregnant and then it stopped and all three ultrasounds since then have been fine.  No cramping during those times and none this time either.

 If I am still spotting tomorrow I am definitely going to call the doctor just like you said, so I can stop worrying!

I did Endometrin instead of PIO, but I stopped at 9w6d and had spotting two days later, but it was just one time when I went to the bathroom.  I called me nurse at the RE who said it could be caused by stopping the Endometrin, but she really didn't think so.  I then called my OB's office and they ahd me go in for an ultrasound.  I had a subchorionic hematoma diagnosed and they'll watch it with ultrasounds until it goes away.  I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence that the spotting started right after I stopped Endometrin or if that actually had something to do with it.
