Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Please share 4 month sleep regression stories

So I feel like I'm not alone and that this will end, and I'll get my happy baby/good sleeper back.

I am a huge fan of The Wonder Weeks, but even that isn't helping me make peace with the fact that DS is up a lot of the night and cries if I'm not making eye contact with him. He was so happy until 2 weeks ago! (He is 19w today).

Also, when did it pass for your LO?

Re: Please share 4 month sleep regression stories

  • I'll let you know when I know.  DS has been doing the same thing, only he would end up in our bed in the middle of the night because we were too tired to handle it further.  He has had craptacular naps etc.  I'm currently reading up on sleep training, but for now I'm staying firm that he stays in his crib as much as possible, and goes to sleep at a decent time.  Now he stays in his crib most of the night, and sometimes falls asleep for 40 mins on his own (at night).  We may just make it yet!

  • I am having some similar problems!  I can't answer the question though,  my LO was born on the same day as yours!

  • Do you swaddle?

This past month DS has been waking up during the night - we hear him on the monitor 'babbling' and sometimes squealing (not to be mistaken for crying or being upset) and within 30 minutes of leaving him - silence. So we've not had the 'four month wakeful' as others describe it.

  • He is anti-swaddle. =) He doesn't wake up fully that often, but he is basically yelling (not babbling) from his crib. I don't get up right away and he stops, but 15 min later, he's yelling again. It's loud and sounds upset enough that he seems like he's stuck, etc. He's tricky that way. I go in and he's snoozing away.

But if he wakes up for a bottle? Forget it. He fusses himself to sleep for a LONG time. Nothing serious, but he wants to get up. He pumps his arms and legs like he's running.

  • Ours lasted about a week and now for the most part he is back to his normal sleeping habit of getting up once a night to eat.

Has he learned to roll and if so is he "practicing" at night? This is what was keeping DS up. Once he got use to his new trick, the night practicing stopped.

  • See, he's a belly sleeper - not what I would have chosen for him, but he has never slept on his back for more than 10 min. Back time is how we wake him up if we need to. I got an Angelcare monitor so I can not worry as much - though the pedi told me last week he's not worried about it anymore. He rolled belly to back at 2w. SO different from my first.

It's like he's trying to crawl. I put him at one end of the crib a and he's at the other end within an hour. Repeat, all night. He's obviously not coordinated enough to begin crawling for quite some time, so he is going to be pi$$ed for a while.
