How old is too old for bath pictures

What is your cutoff age. This is coming from this article. IMO 4 and 5 is way too old. DD is already past my comfortable cut off and she is three.

Re: How old is too old for bath pictures

  • I definitely think that it is too old at 4 and 5 for girls.  I know that it sounds like a double standard, but I still take photos of DS1 in the bath (he is 3) when he is doing something cute with DS2, but I always make sure that he is covered up so you don't see any penis - I don't even get photos of his naked butt.  You never know who is looking/might see them and what they will think of it.
  • I've taken them but you just need to be careful to make sure everything is covered up.??

  • I have bath photos of DD at 3 years. I just make sure that you can't see her genitals, or I would crop them out of a digital photo. I don't think it's a big deal to have pics of her without a shirt now or even up to the 5 yrs in the article.

I may have been a little more cautious than the parents in the story when printing pics, but I still don't think they did anything wrong. I think it's horrible that they took the kids away.

Problem is there were pictures of gentials, in fact they could not release some of the pictures becuse they were too close to child porn.

Eh, I don't buy it. I think it's all a bunch of hysterical over-reaction. Kids in the bathtub being too close to porn? I call B.S. Anyone who can look at a picture of a naked child playing in the tub and think that even remotely resembles porn is a sick and twisted individual, IMO.

As for me, my ds is almost 5 and I think that naked pictures are just fine. It really pisses me off that we live in a society that automatically thinks "SEX SEX SEX OMG SEX!!!!" whenever they see a naked picture of a child. People need to stop oversexualizing kids and lighten up a little.

    This.

I agree with this, but you just never know who might somehow get ahold of the photos that to you are just fine/normal/cute photos - and use them in a way that you don't intend/consider to be anything but cute kids. I mean it could be as simple as a virus that gets to your computer and sends your files on to someone somehow - then those innocent (to you/most people) photos could be used for something else entirely wrong/scary. Shirtless I think is different from genital photos though - the photos they were talking about were the kids laying after a bath hugging naked - you could have easily taken that without showing the genitals IMO.
  • I take them until they are too old to bathe with me in there...but I will be every selective as to who sees them!

  • I agree w/ Cleo on this one...My DD is almost 5 & she's still a baby--Geez her "privates" look exactly the same as they did when she was a baby.  I don't make a habit of taking naked pics but I have plenty of pics w/ the girls w/ just underwear on--they like being "naked" (meaning just undies).  And the ones where they are all next to each other are so cute.  I would however not bring them to be developed somewhere like Wal-Mart for fear the person working would distribute them.  I would say they are too old when they have their own sense of modesty &/or pre-puberty (7-8ish).  Otherwise I think the whole idea of toddler girls being sexual is ridiculous unless you are a pedophile & I am pretty sure no one that see my kids naked pics are pedophiles...and I've known plenty in my life unfortunately so I can pretty much pick them out of a crowd.
