Anyone have an enlarged spleen?

I had an ultrasound done on wed thinking I had gullstones my gullbladder is fine but the report says I have an enlarged spleen.  Im calling the doctor to find out what that means.  I googled it and it alot of things can cause this.  The things I had for me to ask for the ultrasound are the same for an enlarged spleen.  I guess the spleen should be 12 cm (I think it's cm) and mine is 14.2 cm.

 

What did you have an enlarged spleen from?  Could this just really be because im over weight (working on it thru dieting)?

I think mono affects your spleen.  I can't remember exactly...my nephew had mono a few years ago and had to not participate in sports for a few months because of it.

I'm not sure what other causes there are for an enlarged spleen, but I did have one when I had mono when I was younger.  I hope your dr can give you a definite answer when you call!

Ditto on the mono thing.  I had to avoid contact sports for over 3 months when I had mono as a teen for an enlarged spleen.  Your spleen is like a giant lymphnode, so most likely you have some sort of infection going on that your body is trying to fight. DON'T google- just wait to talk to your Doc. Good luck!
