DH and I will be going to New York for the first time since having DD. How do you travel with your babies/toddlers around the city? Normally, we would just take a taxi from the airport but I am not sure that that is even an option now as I wasn't planning on bringing a car seat.
I am not so worried about getting around Manhattan because we can take the subway but I remember all those steps and am now thinking about trying to manage with a stroller. I may just bring her infant carrier and forget the stroller but gosh she gets heavy after awhile and the stroller is so much easier.
I am not sure how you ladies do it.

If you're flying into JFK or EWR, just take the airtrain in, it's super easy. Or you could call Kid Car NY - it's a car service that shows up to pick you up with a car seat already installed. You just tell them ahead of time how big your baby is so they have the correct size. A lot of NY moms use them to go to the airport, or for rides around town. Here is the website:

Good Luck!
We are getting a big stroller for everyday use, but for subways and such we'll rely on the infant carrier.
Since she's so little, I guess you really can't do an umbrella stroller without recline... perhaps it's worth bringing the car seat and buying a snap 'n' go?

Baby carrier all the way! A stroller will jsut slow you down.
Get a Mei Tai - they are the easiest since you don't have to re-adjust from one parent to another. Baby Hawk is my favorite - I used it until my son finally said he'd rather walk.
Ergo is good too, but you have to adjust the buckles and such.
Go to YouTube and type in one of the names and you can learn how to wear them.
