Anyone have a good experience with the gas drops? Today I finally broke down and bought some hoping to help my LO. She has been barely napping all day, and crying that is solved by nothing. She is still eating, but she just has cried all day. She is not comfortable being held or laying on my chest so I am at my wits end here. Also, she is crying more in her sleep...do you guys think it is gas? I know your not Drs, but as a new mom I need some help please.
Re: Mylicon Drops
She's probably starting her 3-week growth spurt. My little one was fussy and never content during both his 3 week and 6 week growth spurts. It gets better - I promise!
Mylicon drops are a waste. Try gripe water - that was my life saver during the growth spurts or on days when his tummy is hurting.
Could be gas. It's worth a try at least. We give DS Mylicon at every feeding and doing that combined with switching bottles has really helped. He loves the drops too so it's like a treat for him!
If I can't get DS to stop crying for anything, the one thing that always works is taking him in the shower with me and letting the water hit his back. He absolutely loves it and stops crying immediately. I heard about doing that on here and it has been a life saver when nothing seems to calm him.
PS - the 3 week growth spurt was HARD for me! BFing and LO would eat at 12, finsh around 1230, change diaper, burp, etc and he was ready to eat again at 1! That week I was a walking zombie and he was never off me! So just don't plan anything for this next week if you are BFing. We just passed the 6 week growth spurt tho and I felt so much better prepared to take on the challenge!
I just did one dose, but it will take more than one dose to notice a difference right?
We use them about 3 times per day...can't tell if they do much. DS is fussy at random and it doesn't seem to correlate with feedings always.
The 3 week growth spurt is pretty tough...just keep reminding yourself that it's over, and you are halfway to 1 month where they really begin to interact in more ways than just crying!
Do you mind sharing how you burp your LO?
I hold him upright laying him on my chest, I walk around patting him gently on his back. With older babies who can support their head on their own you would do this on your shoulder; it is the same idea. DS used to cry a lot because of the bubbles and would also cry in his sleep, now he does that only occasionally (meaning less than once a day)
