Hello all! I'm sneaking over from the wedding boards to see if I can find ideas for a baby shower gift! Just thought I would ask all the mommies out there what their favorite gift they received for their shower was. TIA!
I didn't get one of these as a gift, but I DID decide that it is what I would like to give everyone ELSE at showers from now on..
Add a note that says not to use it until they really need it- I think that a newborn who sleeps well might be better served by saving it until they become a feisty or teething or simply restless toddler- but I am SURE that at some point it will come in handy for any parent- even if it's just a novel comfort when a kid is sick or something.
forgot the link (because I'm high on restful and deep sleep!)
A handmade quilt, a grocery delivery service gift certificate, house cleaning gift certificate, and my "magic bag", as my sister called it. She took a diaper bag (you could do an inexpensive one) & filled it with everything small that was left on my registry (all of the $3, $5, etc items) &: diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer, a diaper duck (little roll of plastic bags to dispose of diapers), diaper cream, etc.
I second the idea BOF had. We had/have a "heartbeat" bear for our DS who is 3 now. I'm not sure if it was soothing that much (in that it sounded like "mommy") but it sort of drowns out noises for the first 45 minutes they go down for nap/bedtime.
Another thing that I found invaluable is a Bumbo Seat. We ended up getting the tray attachment as well. It's great to use once the kiddo can hold his/her head up but is still way too small for a high chair.
If you want to spend a bit more...the Jumperoo was another favorites. My DS spent hours (not all at once) in it. He liked it much better than the Exersaucer...I think because it wasn't wobbly and he could control the motion.
