TTC after 35

RE recs in NJ/NYC?

Following up to my post yesterday, I do NOT need a referral to see an RE.  So, now it's time to get my old self an appointment.  I live in NJ but can arrange to work in the city on occasion...is it feasible for me to see someone in NYC?  Or are there tons of oddly scheduled appointments?

Would love some recs if you're happy with your RE.

TIA!

Re: RE recs in NJ/NYC?

  • I used to be an RMA-NJ patient. If you are over 35 I do not recommend them unless you are strictly an MFI case. However they have several locations and very experienced drs. They just were not right for our issues.

I switched to Cornell in Manhattan and have had a great experience. I am not over 35 but reproductively my body acts AMA so they were a much better choice for me. Insurance wise though you have more leverage at RMA.

I have also heard great things about IVFNJ and if I need to go the DE route at some point I think that is who I would use.

     Good luck!

  • I have been to both a private solo RE (she and her husband run it) as well as a huge group- Cornell.  Both are fantastic but they're very different experiences.  If you want something very personal where they spend time with you and know who you are when you walk in, I recommend the smaller group/solo doctor.  If you don't mind being a number in a factory, Cornell is great.  It really depends on you.  The only reason I switched from the private doctor to Cornell for my 3rd IVF (had ds with IVF through the private doctor) was because of insurance issues.  I loved the private doctor and the personal attention.

private doctor-  Dr. Cecelia Schmidt-Sarosi  I'm at work and don't have her number but she's on 67th street between Park and Madison.  I know several people who went to her and she is truly amazing (and we all got pregnant).

Cornell- I go to Dr. Schoyer (although I've only seen her 1-2 times)  You see whoever is on that day.  Dr. Schoyer is going on maternity leave anyway.  Any of the doctors there are really good but some are booked months in advance for a 1st appointment.  I was shocked by that.

    Good luck!

3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again

  • I used RMA-NJ as well. ?We do have some MFI issues, but just got our BFP with our first IUI. ?They have numerous locations and early morning monitoring. ?You are "assigned" a personal nurse who will have your information so that you don't have to repeatedly give someone your info. ?

I have been very happy with them, but I also don't have any experience with any other group.

    Good Luck. ??

  • I'm in the same boat as Caityr. I started at RMA and think they are wonderful and very experienced, yet due to my DOR/FSH/Poor response, I need someone that was willing to not go by the book and try different things. This is why I moved to Cornell. Should I decide to go the donor egg route, I wouldn't think twice about going back to RMA. Good luck, Strunella
