Connecticut Babies

SUA

Hi. Had 20 week ultrasound yesterday & was told I have a two vessel cord instead of three. I am now waiting for a call to schedule a more in depth ultrasound. I did not see anything in the Q&A section about this and was wondering if anyone has dealt with or heard of this before. Thank you.

Re: SUA

  • Try posting on this board:

    https://www.thebump.com/stages/stage.aspx?stage=trimester2

It is busier and you should be able to get quick feed back.

  • Thank you so much!  I re-posted & have gotten some feedback already. This is just a bit scary with nothing to do but wait. Too funny, we're in the Danbury area as well! Thank you again.Take care!
  • I'm glad you were able to get some feedback.  Will you be going to Dr. Canavan for the follow up?  I had some abnormal results at my 20wk u/s at was sent to him.  I understand how scary the wait is.  Good luck!

  • Jillie had an SUA. We went for genetic testing b/c she had another marker of concern, but the 2nd marker turned out to be a machine error, and she is healthy. Like never sit down and never be quiet healthy, just to prove it.

Just let me know if you have any specific questions - but do yourself a favor and don't google. It's not a good representation of outcomes in comparison to what I've seen on the board - lots of healthy SUA babies.

  • I had a 2 vessel cord as well, and now I have a perfectly healthy beautiful girl. DO NOT google this. The things that come up are sooooo scary and you really do not have anything to worry about.

Once I found out about the cord, I had to go to level 2 ultrasounds every 4 weeks to make sure everything was developing properly and she was growing at the correct rate. They also checked physical markers for other problems like downs which can develop due to the cord, but if you do not have a high risk  to start with, the chance is slim to none.

GL and if you have any questions feel free to PM me. Just please do not google this.
