BFers - DC rash question...

I think something I ate  the other day caused DD to rash out at daycare. They said it was immediately after a feeding and it was her usual caregiver that fed her so probably not contact related (no new perfume or detergent).

I did eat something out of the norm (Thai chicken salad) but now I'm worried that it could happen again since I don't know exactly what could have caused it, and her reaction could be even worse than just a splotchy rash. Anyone experience this?

  • I would probably avoid peanuts, since that is the most likely cause from that day.  You can also talk to your ped and ask them.  Some will test.  My friends son is allergic to lots of stuff and deathly allergic to seseame, but he did not have any serious reactions when she ate it when she BF.  When he actually ate it, she had to call 911 and get an ambulance.
  • When you said Thai chicken salad, I immediately thought nuts.  Was there nuts on the salad?  It could have even been in the dressing.  Did you eat it at a restaurant that you could look up the info online?

  • I just looked up a few random recipes for thai chicken salad and many of them used either peanut butter or peanuts in the dressing.
  • I know it had peanuts in it but I've eaten TONS of peanuts and peanut butter while pg and since she's been born without any reaction. Maybe sesame. I'll see if I can find the ingredients. Oh, I hope she doesn't have food allergies. That is so freaking scary!
