Formula

We got home from the NICU with one baby last week.  He drinks the Similac Neosure fine, up to 4 ounces even.  However, he grunts and moans a lot, like most of the day.  He has regular poops (although today so far he's gone 8 hours without one, that's not normal though and I'm sure he'll catch up).

Is this gas?  We give him gas drops.  Anyone experience this with Neosure?  If so, what did you switch to?  My peditrician says to stick with it but I want to be well informed and ask questions if there is something out there better.  Thanks.

    a lot of kids have trouble with neosure. I'd ask your pedi WHY she doesn't want you to change. If it's just for extra calories, any formula can be mixed to a denser calorie load


    Robbie went through about 7 formulas before we finally had the best luck with Good Starts. It's a regular formula, but I mix it to 27cal/oz because Robbie has major volume issues.

    You could ask you pedi if you can try an allimental (sp) formula like Similac Allimentum.  It is supposed to be easier to digest.  We thickened DS' formula with rice cereal to help his reflux and it provided extra calories too.

    Carter is on neosure and does the same thing, though he's only on it for about 1/3 of his feedings (i bf but have low supply),. he also only poops every 2-4 days.  I might switch after this can - he has so much gas all the time - i've never seen a baby fart so much..lol
