I have 2 boppies but was wondering if I should also consider buying the Twin Nursing Pillow? They have one that is made out of a cushion and then an inflatable one--which is better and/or is it necessary to buy for twins?
Did anyone do bottle and breast--like nurse one while DH feeds one a bottle (w/breast milk) and then switch the next feeding (i.e. other twin nurses while other gets bottle)? Is that doable??
I go to a Breastfeeding 101 class this upcoming week, so hoping to get answers, but I know it is not specific to multiples and thought I could ask the experts.....
Thanks!
Re: Nursing Qs
If you want to be able to nurse both babies at once, then I'd definitely get an EZ-2-Nurse pillow. As Shanseur mentioned, you can get them used and save some $$! I had the foam kind and liked it.
The bottle/breast option is certainly doable, but obviously only if you're both available at every feeding.
I was lucky in that the LC who taught my Successful BFing class was a twin mom.
Definitely let the instructor know you're having twins so she can tailor instruction to you a bit. My instructor would mention anytime something would be different for me--e.g. when discussing nursing positions, she'd say, 'And Amy, you're going to want to try the double football hold," etc. It was really helpful! The book Mothering Multiples by Karen Gromada (sp?) is a great resource, too.
If you are going to tandem nurse then I would definitly recommend a twin pillow. I have the inflatable one and I love it as it's easy to take when we travel.
In the beginning I would nurse one and my husband would bottle feed (with bm) one at night to help me and we would switch the next feed and it worked. Once they got older and tandem nursing got easier then we stopped.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I know how overwhelming it can seem to breastfeed twins, but it is totally doable and eventually it will be second nature to you!
