We give DD Childrens Zyrtec per our Pedi's rec. She used to get 2.5 ml every night but her allergies are better (and she got ear tubes which helped alot) so now its more like 2 or 3 times a week.
When DS was little the pedi gave me a script for Zyrtec. When I went to get it from the pharmacy, it was the Children's OTC Zyrtec w/a pharmacy label stuck on it. Thet told me there was no infant Zyrtec. The tech told me the reason the pedi gave me a script rather than telling me to just buy an OTC bottle was just basically to cover his butt.
May I ask what you are taking it for? Reason I ask is b/c Matthew is just miserable and I KNOW it's seasonal allergies even though the allergist says not possible. He's allergic to wheat so there's a chance he's got a grass allergy--and I know he's allergic to mold (and we live by water). So it's just insane.
I would LOVE to try zyrtec for him (and I think the pedi would be ok with it too) as I know it once worked for me a few years back.
I will have to call my pedi's office and see if I was giving Children's Zyrtec in smaller doses ... weird.
Jack has his daddy's allergies. They always seem to pop up when the weather changes drastically (like it has here in the past week). Our Pedi recommended it to us, and it works really well for his congestion and coughing.
We just use Childrens Zyrtec as well per our pedi..I think we do 1/2 teaspoon at bedtime, we use it when DS has colds and also when his allergies bother him.

ANOTHER QUESTION----does it make them terribly tired? Do you only give at bedtime? Reason I ask is I remember it making me super tired when I first started taking it---took a couple weeks to get used to. I'm assuming the same for them??
i dont think there is an infant. we do children's here.
and yes, smiling. its good with congestion (at least for my 2 with seasonal allergies) but it doesn't make them that tired. i kept thinking it would knock them out, but nope.

Does it help with nasal/chest congestion??
Yes, it's helped a lot with his congestion ... and no, its not like Benedryl that just absolutely knocks him out. It doesn't make him sleepy or lathargic or anything
